Mayo Winter Carnival

Every March the Village celebrates the end of winter with a variety of events such as a pool tournament, cards, bingo, dances and a weekend of fun competitions. Held in mid-March.

Annual Ski Trip

The Village of Mayo helps sponsor a ski/snowboard trip to either Dawson City or Whitehorse at one of the local ski hills. Takes place in March during the School Spring Break.

Irene Hutton Memorial Bonspiel

Honouring a longtime volunteer in curling, the Memorial Bonspiel takes place the first weekend of April. Capacity for 24 teams is available with great prizes up for grabs, as well as a dinner and dance for participants.

Wakeathon

Held in May, this event keeps school teenagers up with numerous activities for 24 hours straight starting Friday morning until Saturday.

Mayo Arts Festival

Held on July 1st, this showcases the talents of local artists, craftspeople and musicians for an afternoon at the soccer field behind the school.

Canada Day

Mayo celebrates Canada’s birthday with a variety of activities including a parade, children’s games, a slo-pitch tournament, a BBQ and a dance. The tournament and dance are held the weekend closest to July 1st, all other activities are held on the holiday itself.

Annual Rafting/Camping Trip

Every summer local youth and interested adults go on a camping trip that visits one of the Yukon’s whitewater rafting and rock climbing destinations. This is held in early August.

Halloween Party

Sponsored by the local RCMP detachment, the evening starts with a fireworks show put on by the local fire department and finishes with games and a haunted house at the Community Hall

Fireman’s Ball and Children’s Christmas Party

The Fireman’s Ball is a charity dinner and dance hosted by the Mayo Volunteer Fire Department. Proceeds are used for the annual Children’s Christmas party that benefits children in our community 12 and under. The Ball is held on the first weekend of December, the Children’s Party is held on the Tuesday before Christmas Holidays.
