Public Works
Public Works provides integral services to our community every day. Our mission is to provide quality services to the Mayo community with pride, courtesy and commitment. Developing and offering efficient services in partnership with our citizens will help us achieve our vision to make Mayo a leading community in the Territory by being an outstanding provider of Public Work Services.
The Public Works Department is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the Village’s buildings and infrastructure such as the Community Hall, Curling Rink, Village Office, Hockey Arena, Swimming Pool, Firehall, Pumphouse, Liftstation, Valve Chamber, the Recycling Centre, the Binet House Museum, the McIntyre House, the Senior Centre, the Village Shop, the parks, the cemeteries, the streets and lanes, and the Solid Waste Management Facility (Landfill), the various vehicles and equipment, and the building systems.
In the summer months the road maintenance program involves street, lane and sidewalk repairs and cleaning, pothole repairs, organizing BST re-placement with YG Highways, street sweeping, dust control, ditching, etc.
In the winter time it consists of snow plowing, snow removal, sanding, etc.
